Gerard J. Scheer, Jr. is a Class A PGA Professional with more than 25 years of experience at premier private clubs and leading golf coaching organizations. As Director of Golf, Gerard brings a proven record of coaching players of all skill levels—from beginners and club golfers to top amateurs, state champions, collegiate athletes and professionals.
Known to members as Coach G, Gerard specializes in long-term player development through Game-Like Training, a system he has refined over two decades. He was among the first in Connecticut to integrate statistical analysis and on-course risk management technology, giving players clear, data-driven feedback to optimize performance.
Gerard’s players have collectively won over 50 local, state, and national tournaments. He has coached junior golfers to state championships, All-State honors, and collegiate competition, while also developing numerous club champions. His fact-based, easy-to-digest approach makes progress measurable and lasting for every level of player.
A recognized leader in golf instruction, Gerard has earned numerous accolades, including being named one of the Top 50 Junior Golf Instructors by U.S. Kids Golf and serving on the PGA of America President’s Council on Growing the Game.
In 2024, Gerard was honored with the Metropolitan PGA Player Development Award, one of only 25 awarded annually, recognizing his outstanding contributions to player development, leadership, and innovation in growing the game. Dedicated to advancing the use of technology in training, Gerard is a certified Trackman operator, U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach, and a Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach. He also holds certifications with BodiTrak and The Stack System, and has been a proud Titleist Staff Ambassador for 15 years.
